Many SEO analysis sites offer the same tools and features.
So rather than give you a long personal anecdote on why I think you should use one service over another, instead, I'll go over the main tools, pricing, and free trial of 5 Ahrefs alternatives so you can come to your own conclusion.
But first, let's cover Ahrefs before heading to the Ahrefs alternatives.
After all, it's hard to compare services if you have don't have a control.

What is Ahrefs?
Founded in 2011, Ahrefs is a linking profile analysis tool designed to help gather and measure a website's link quality.
It's marketed as the "all-in-one SEO toolset" with everything you need to monitor and ultimately improve your SEO for higher browser rankings and more traffic.
Ahref's offers 5 main tools:
Ahrefs Main Tools
Ahrefs Site Audit (free)
Site Audit is a free tool that crawls your website, identifies SEO issues, and recommends the exact solution to the issue.
Create an Ahref's account to gain access. Then add a project (i.e. your website) to start using the tool.
The audit looks at:
Automated audit crawls only take a few minutes, with the report appearing in your email inbox.
Compare recent crawls with prior site crawls, and see the health score and top issues are listed prominently on the page.
There is no need to guess which SEO issues are affecting your health score.
Ahref's Site Explorer (free)
Look at organic search traffic, paid traffic, research, and backlinking of your website using the Ahrefs Site Explorer tool.
Create a free account then verify ownership of your domain.
Subscribe to a premium plan to use all Ahrefs Site Explorer tools on any website.

Monitor your Google rankings across 170 counties.
Visibility, position distributions, average position, and average traffic are all visible.

Ahref's Content Explorer
Investigate competitors' content creation strategy and pinpoint your own link-building strategy with the Ahrefs content explorer.
Search competitors' articles based on organic traffic, referring domains, traffic value, domain rating, and social shares.
There are 12 filters to chose from, ranging from author and publication to language and number of words to help narrow your search.
Then compare your own sites' performance against these metrics to see which topics to cover.
Ahrefs states, "If competitors are outperforming you, it could be because they're keeping their content fresh."
Ahref's Keywords Explorer
The Keywords Explorer displays an overview of any keyword.
Change the country and browser as you search keywords to get an accurate representation of your target audience.
Scrolling lower on the page reveals the keyword ideas based on the search term.
These ideas are generated based on phrase match, similar terms, and autocomplete queries.
Each price point gives access to the 5 main tools with varying reports, audits, and crawls allotted per week.
If you are unsure of how many tools you'll use, create an account and start with the 7 days for $7 trial.
If you hit the weekly limits then consider upgrading to a larger package.

1. Google Search Console
What is Google Search Console?
Google Search Console is a free web service provided by Google.
Formerly known as Google Webmaster, this service allows domain owners to check the indexing status and visibility of their site on Google search results and Google Discover.

Search for a specific page on your site and use the URL inspection to:
Also, test the live URL and request reindexing if a page was updated.
Google Search Console's Performance Reports
Check your Google Search results and Google Discover performances for any date range. Search results appear on Google after searching for a term while Google Discover is a mobile experience that suggests content based on users' search activity.
Both reports allow you to view total clicks, total impressions, and average click-through-rate. However, the average position is only available on the Google Search results report.
Queries and devices are not filters for Google Search results given content is automatically suggested on mobile devices only.
Google Search Console's Index Tools
Coverage, Sitemaps, and Removals are the three features included with the indexing tool.
Under Coverage view:
Scroll down to the Coverage Details section and click on any of the statuses to get more information on the arrow and validate a fix.
The Sitemaps section is where you can add new sitemaps for Google's bots to crawls. Sitemaps allow browsers to quickly index your site.
I highly recommend creating a sitemap if you want to rank on Google.
Finally, there is the Removals tool that allows you to submit a request to remove a page from Google Search.
Submit requests for pages that no longer exist or ones that do not need to show up on Google.
Google Search Console's Enhancements Reports
This last category of tools checks the mobile usability of your pages in addition to Core Web Vitals.
The Core Web Vitals tool offers mobile and desktop reports for visual stability, speed, and responsiveness of your site.
The Mobile Usability tool displays the readability, clickability, and presentation of page content on mobile devices.
Google Search Console Pricing (free)
As stated earlier, the Google Search Console is free to use.
All that's required is a free Google account and domain ownership.

2. Google Analytics
What is Google Analytics?
Google Analytics is another free service offered by Google.
It's an analytics platform within the Google Marketing Platform, a platform for a unified approach to website analytics and advertising.
It is a web analytics service that is primarily used to track website traffic using a multitude of metrics.

Google Analytics's Realtime Report
Realtime reporting provides insights on active users currently on your site.
Google Analytics's Audience Report
Google Analytics's Audience Report has 15 different insights.
Get a breakdown of users' age, gender, general interests, language, return rate, and browser type, to better match content, ads, and services to your current audience.
Google Analytics's Acquisition Report
Know how users are getting to your site via channels, treemaps, source/medium, and referral reports.
